Slow pace, long queues leave voters dejected
INDORE: Slow processing and long queues at several polling booths in Indore-4 constituency left some voters disillusioned. They returned home without casting their votes waiting for long time in queues. Following complaints from voters, the sitting MLA from the constituency was on toes visiting the booths and reviewing the situation.
A long-queue at the Sarafa Vidya Niketan, Poytechnic College, Lokmanya HS School, Lokmanya Nagar and Ghanshayamdas Nagar saw many voters leaving without casting their votes after standing in queue for nearly an hour.
A sector officer in the constituency said that though the polling officers were ably managing the turnout of voters, the semi-literate or unlettered voters were taking time resulting in a delay.
"At some of the booths we had sent additional officers to manage the process," he said.
Manoj Eklodia, 44, resident of Mahawar Nagar returned from booth after standing in queue for more than 40 minutes. He said, "I reached here at 11 am, expecting that I would be free in 15- 20 minutes. But I had to leave due to urgent work. It was a sheer disappointment."
Many voters said that officers were not able to briskly manage the queue and some voters were taking long time to cast their votes.
MLA of constituency Indore-4, Malini Gaur, was seen inquiring about the slow polling at the Sarafa Vidya Niketan and Polytechnic College, Gumansta Nagar as her party workers were also making rounds of the booth and were seen talking to the election officials. A similar, scene was seen in the Sanwer constituency as well. Voters from the Indus Green Satellite and nearby Kailo Dhala village, who had come for polling at booth number 176, said that duty officials were very slow leading to long queues. However, the neighbouring 177 polling booth witnessed prompt process.
